sweet heart

This is my version of a sweet heart pin cushion, like this one from the Imperial War Museum. I've mounted mine in a box covered with vintage letters, the old handwriting is so beautiful.

  1. Your heart is so lovely. I like to use hand stitching in my work but no way as exquisite as yours. lovely to look at

  2. It is indeed lovely.
It is sad to think that each time the seamstress would have used the beautiful keepsake be it to mend a garment or sew one from scraps she would be reminded of a loved one serving their country distant miles away...
I hope the one in the War museum held a story of returning home safe and sound.

  5. So beautiful, Christine. The more I see the more I am looking forward to see you soon and hopefully learn - but will never reach your perfection in stitches.

  13. I recently went on a day course to create a sweet heart pin cushion, where we made a patchwork of fabrics to create our heart. However, I love the simplicity of linen and your work is absolutely beautiful.

  14. I love this piece and I absolutely hate to do this to you but if you take that to sell you'll hear this all day. You've mis-spelled the word ABSENCE. (The state of being away from) I'm hoping you can come up with a crafty way of changing that first C into an S, good luck with it.

  15. P.s. Which stitch did you use for your words? Is it a very fine Stem Stitch? Thank you.
